Downton Abbey, the beloved period drama, captivated audiences for six seasons and even spawned a movie. The show made its debut on Jan. 9, 2011, on PBS, and over 12 years later, it remains a cherished part of television history.
Rise to Fame
The series, created by Julian Fellowes, propelled its cast members, including Michelle Dockery and Dan Stevens, to stardom. The iconic Maggie Smith also became a fan favorite for her portrayal of the Dowager Countess, earning her a special place in TV history.
