Madonna's management and tour producers have issued a response to the lawsuit filed by two individuals from New York City regarding the late start times for the 'Celebration' tour concerts. The statement, issued by tour company Live Nation and Madonna's management, addressed the concerns raised by the plaintiffs and emphasized the intention to vigorously defend the case.
Late Start Times and Technical Issues
The shows, which commenced in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn, encountered a delay on December 13 due to a technical issue during soundcheck. This delay was extensively covered in press reports at the time. Additionally, the performance on December 14 also began late, commencing after 10:00 p.m. despite the announced start time of 8:30 p.m. These delays occurred following the European leg of the Celebration Tour, with an October date in London also experiencing a late start.
Plaintiffs' Allegations
Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, have accused Madonna, Live Nation, and the Barclays arena of engaging in 'unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices' by listing an 8:30 p.m. start time. Furthermore, they expressed dissatisfaction with the late conclusion of the show, citing the impact on their ability to fulfill work and family responsibilities the following day.
